At Matthew 24:45-51, Jesus tells the parable of the Faithful Slave. Who really is the Faithful Slave? For a number of years, this title was bestowed on a single individual. Then it was said to be a nebulous body of thousands of people worldwide. More recently, a small body of religious leaders declared themselves alone to be the Faithful Slave. But when we consider the context as well, as the parallel account in Luke 12:42-48 about the faithful and wise steward, and research the idea of stewardship elsewhere in Scripture, another picture emerges altogether.
